Sinner defeated Bublik to advance to the Vienna semifinals, with Deminor and Zverev also moving forward

The ATP 500 Vienna Open reached the quarterfinal stage, where top seed Sinner, Australian star Deminor, and Zverev all secured spots in the semifinals. Sinner, in particular, continued his strong indoor form, steadily progressing toward his fourth title of the season.

As the 2023 champion, Sinner’s clash with Bublik was highly anticipated — the two previously met at the Halle Open in June, where Sinner lost, but he won their subsequent two encounters. In this match, the 24-year-old Sinner maintained relentless pressure with his shot rhythm, winning 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets, improving their head-to-head to 6-2 and extending his impressive season record to 46 wins and 6 losses.

“Bublik served excellently; I just tried to return every ball and stay focused to win this tough match,” Sinner said after the game. Notably, Sinner has now won 19 consecutive indoor matches and will face Deminor in the semifinals.

Deminor triumphed in another key match, beating Berrettini 6-1, 7-6(4). Although he missed a chance to serve out the match at 5-4, he held firm in the tiebreak, raising his season wins to 53, second only to Alcaraz, and improving his head-to-head against Berrettini to 2-3.

So far this season, Deminor has reached the semifinals of ATP 500 tournaments four times, having already claimed his first ATP 500 title of the year in Washington. Currently ranked seventh on the PIF ATP Race to Turin leaderboard, he leads ninth-placed Alcaraz by 500 points, putting him within reach of making his second career appearance at the year-end ATP Finals.

Compared to the tough battles of the other two, Zverev’s advancement was easier. His opponent, Taro Daniel, withdrew before the match due to a back injury, granting the German a walkover into the semifinals and securing his spot at the Turin ATP Finals — marking another career qualification for the prestigious year-end event. As the 2021 Vienna Open champion, Zverev now aims for his second title at this tournament. His semifinal opponent will be the winner between Musetti and Moutet.

With the semifinal lineup set, the fight for the Vienna Open title intensifies. Whether Sinner can extend his indoor winning streak, Deminor can claim his second ATP 500 title this season, and Zverev can replicate his 2021 triumph will be the key storylines in the upcoming matches.

The last semifinal spot will be decided between Musetti and Moutet. In the previous round, Moutet eliminated the sixth seed Medvedev.
