From Linz to Wuhan, from 2019 to 2025, Gauff has won every hard court tour final she has reached.

Many people know American female tennis player Gauff well. At present, she is the leading American woman in tennis. In the 2025 season, she secured her first career Grand Slam title on clay at Roland Garros. Yet, her achievements on hard courts are even more notable. From 2019 until now, she has consistently won every hard court tour final she has reached. So, on which hard court tournaments has Gauff claimed titles? Today, this article will take you through them.

In October 2019, having already reached her first Grand Slam round of 16, Gauff entered the Linz Open as a lucky loser. In the following matches, she consecutively defeated Swiss qualifier Vögele, Ukrainian player Bandel, the top seed and Dutch player Bertens, as well as German Petkovic and Grand Slam champion, Latvian Ostapenko, to win her first career tour title. This also marked her first hard court tournament victory. Perhaps many fans did not realize then that this was only the beginning of her hard court success.

In the years that followed, Gauff achieved numerous breakthroughs. In 2022, she advanced to her first Grand Slam final at the French Open and became the youngest female doubles world No.1 of the 21st century. In January 2023, as the top seed at the WTA 250 Auckland Open, she defeated German Maria, Grand Slam champion Kenin, Chinese player Zhu Lin, Montenegrin Kovinic, and Spanish qualifier Masarova to claim her second hard court title.

That year was especially significant for Gauff. She won titles at the WTA 500 Washington Open, WTA 1000 Cincinnati event, and the US Open. Notably, these were her first championships at WTA 500, WTA 1000, and Grand Slam levels, all of which are hard court tournaments.

Her success continued. In January 2024, Gauff returned to the WTA 250 Auckland Open as the defending champion. She dominated compatriot Liu Jingwen in the first round, then went on to defeat Czech qualifier Bouzkova, French player Gajdosova, fellow American Navarro, and Ukrainian Svitolina to successfully defend her title. It is important to note this was her first successful title defense on the tour.

In September 2024, seeded fourth at the WTA 1000 China Open, Gauff received a first-round bye. She then won in straight sets against French player Burel in the second round to advance. In the following rounds, she defeated British player Boulter, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka,Ukrainian qualifier Starodubtseva, and Spanish player Badosa, reaching her first WTA 1000 China Open final. In the final, she convincingly beat Czech player Muchova to claim her seventh hard court title.

At the November 2024 year-end championships, Gauff won her group matches against Czech Krejcikova, compatriot Pegula, and Polish player Swiatek to reach the semifinals. There, she defeated Belarusian Sabalenka in straight sets, advancing to her first year-end final. In the final, after a tough three-set battle, she overcame Chinese player Zheng Qinwen to win her first career year-end championship.

In October, as the third seed at the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open, Gauff received a first-round bye. In the second round, she defeated Japanese qualifier Uchijima. She then continued her strong run by beating Chinese player Zhang Shuai, German Sigmund, Italian Paolini, and fellow American Pegula to capture her first WTA 1000 title of the 2025 season.

Nine finals reached on hard courts, nine titles won. Objectively, Gauff can already be called the queen of hard courts. That’s the tennis story for today; more to come tomorrow.(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Yixin Jushi)
