Djokovic withdraws from Paris Masters, missing the year-end Masters event for the second consecutive year

On Tuesday local time, the 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic officially confirmed his withdrawal from this year’s ATP1000 Paris Masters, making it his second consecutive year missing this event. It is worth mentioning that this year the Paris Masters will move for the first time from the Bercy Sports Palace to the Accor Arena.

“Dear Paris, it is with regret that I cannot participate in this year’s Paris Masters. Over the years, I have created many wonderful memories and achieved great success here, including seven titles. I hope to see you again next year, thank you,” Djokovic wrote in his statement.

After reaching the semifinals at the Shanghai Rolex Masters earlier this month, Djokovic indicated that besides the ATP250 tournament held in his current residence Athens, he had not decided whether to play in other events this season. The ATP 250 Athens event was relocated from Belgrade to Athens this year, with Djokovic’s brother serving as tournament director since 2021.

Last weekend, Djokovic became the third player, after Sinner and Alcaraz, to secure a spot at this year’s Turin ATP Finals, but it remains unclear if he will participate. “After the Shanghai Masters, the only confirmed event for me is Athens. As for the Turin Finals, I am still undecided,” he said.

The current entry list for the ATP250 Athens tournament includes not only Djokovic but also strong competitors like Khachanov, Lehecka, Menšík, and Fonseca.
