Grand Slam double crown on all surfaces, Alcaraz equals Nadal and closes in on Djokovic!

After Alcaraz beat Sinner to reclaim the title at Flushing Meadows after three years, he has secured a double crown on all surfaces. So, how many players in tennis history have Grand Slam titles on clay, grass, and hard courts just like Alcaraz?

Regrettably, Sampras is missing from this ranking. This prodigy and former king of tennis never won the French Open trophy, despite collecting plenty of other major titles, with his best result at Roland Garros being just the semifinals.

Graf: At least six each

Although Graf’s title as the greatest female tennis player of all time might soon be challenged by Serena Williams, her versatility is unquestionably unmatched, boasting at least six Grand Slam titles on each surface, far surpassing other players. Another remarkable record of hers came in 1988, when she won all four Grand Slam titles plus the Olympic singles gold medal, achieving the calendar Golden Slam and arguably the strongest individual season in history.

Evert, Serena, Djokovic: At least three each

Next on the list are three players with at least three titles each. Evert and Serena represent two iconic generations of queens. Both Serena and Djokovic faced setbacks in their later Grand Slam campaigns due to cancellations, suspensions, and penalties; without these external factors, they could have won even more titles.

Alcaraz, Nadal, Navratilova, Vilas: At least two each

Thanks to Alcaraz’s successful French Open defense this year and another US Open title, he has matched his predecessor Nadal. Given time, it’s foreseeable that he will surpass the elder in overall versatility; the other two legends are Navratilova and Vilas.

Swiatek, Barty, Sharapova, Federer, Agassi, Mandlikova, Connors: At least one each

There are many players with at least one Grand Slam title, including several retired stars. Among them, Sharapova and Agassi became career Grand Slam winners with a relatively small number of majors, showing impressive efficiency. Barty and Swiatek are just one step away from completing a career Grand Slam, and the retired Australian queen’s dream is still within reach for the Polish player.

As for the top two in total men’s tour titles, Connors and Federer’s inclusion on the list is unquestionably deserved.

Currently, Sinner only needs a French Open title to complete his career Grand Slam, while Alcaraz is missing the Australian Open to do the same. Although Sinner has already reached the French Open final, and Alcaraz has only made it as far as the Australian Open quarterfinals, it’s hard to predict who will get there first. Just like Alcaraz, who had never won a match at the Monte Carlo Masters before this year but went all the way to the title.(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Luo Chengqiya)
