This is the third consecutive Grand Slam final in 2025 where Alcaraz and Sinner have faced each other (previously at Roland Garros and

Wimbledon). In their prior two encounters, both players produced thrilling and intense matches.

However, the scenario at this US Open was quite different, with Alcaraz showing clear dominance.

After the final was delayed about 50 minutes due to security measures for welcoming U.S. President Donald Trump, Alcaraz appeared stronger, especially with his return game that frequently unsettled Sinner.

Right in the first game of the first set, Alcaraz secured a break. The Spanish player also broke again in the seventh game before winning the set 6-2.

In the second set, World No. 1 Sinner regained control. The Italian player quickly earned a break and capitalized on opportunities to take the set 6-3.

However, the second set was the best Sinner could manage against Alcaraz. On an exceptional day, Alcaraz dominated the match from there on.

In sets 4 and 5, Alcaraz secured convincing victories with scores of 6-1 and 6-4, respectively.

Winning the match 3-1, Alcaraz claimed the 2025 US Open title. This is the sixth Grand Slam trophy of the Spanish player’s career. In the Open Era, only Bjorn Borg (7) has won more Grand Slams than Alcaraz before turning 23.

By triumphing at the US Open, the Spanish player officially ended the Italian’s 65-week dominance on the ATP rankings, thereby rising to No. 1 in the world.
