This is the only Grand Slam title the Belarusian player won in 2025, ending a series of losses in the Australian Open, Roland Garros finals, and Wimbledon semifinals. With this victory, Sabalenka claimed her fourth Grand Slam title in her career.

Meanwhile, this was the second Grand Slam final in the career of American player Anisimova, who enjoyed strong support from home fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium. However, despite the home advantage and crowd encouragement, Anisimova struggled with nerves in the final, making numerous errors including 29 unforced errors and 7 double faults.

After 94 minutes, Anisimova was defeated 0-2 by world No.1 Sabalenka. This loss was an improvement compared to her straight-set defeat by Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final two months ago.

At this US Open, Anisimova played brilliantly, eliminating Swiatek in the quarterfinals and Osaka in the semifinals.

"It’s been a great summer reaching two consecutive Grand Slam finals, but losing both is very bitter," - Anisimova said after the match.

For Sabalenka, the Belarusian player continues to establish herself as one of the greatest tennis players of the 21st century. She now has 4 Grand Slam titles, matching the records of Kim Clijsters, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Naomi Osaka, and Hana Mandlikova.

The 24-year-old has also created a dominant era on hard courts, reaching 6 consecutive Grand Slam finals on hard surfaces and winning 4 titles. The Belarusian player earned a record prize money of 5 million USD, significantly higher than the 3.6 million USD she won last year.

Sabalenka demonstrated her superior level by winning 4 titles, finishing runner-up 3 times, reaching 3 semifinals, and 1 quarterfinal in her last 11 Grand Slam tournaments.
