Grand Slam Secures Second Title! Former Chinese Tennis Star’s Partner Shines Bright

As the 2025 US Open nears its last two days, the women’s doubles champion has been unexpectedly determined among the winners so far.

The tournament’s top seeds Townsend and Siniakova were defeated 4-6, 4-6 by the third seeds Dabrowski and Luttrull, falling short of the ultimate title.

When it comes to Dabrowski, Chinese tennis fans are surely familiar with her. She was the regular partner of China’s Xu Yifan, with whom she achieved several notable results, including reaching the women’s doubles final at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. However, since the 2020 season, the pair has rarely teamed up.

As a doubles specialist, Dabrowski has delivered impressive performances in recent seasons. At the 2023 US Open, she won her first Grand Slam women’s doubles title partnering Luttrull; last year, the Canadian star continued to excel, reaching doubles finals with Luttrull in Miami, Wimbledon, and Eastbourne, though they fell short of winning. Later, at the Paris Olympics, she earned a prestigious bronze medal alongside compatriot Auger-Aliassime.

At last year’s WTA Finals, Dabrowski finally overcame her finals losing streak, teaming with Luttrull to defeat Siniakova and Townsend and claim the year-end championship.

In the 2025 season, Dabrowski and Luttrull continue their strong partnership. Before winning the US Open, they had already secured titles in Stuttgart and Cincinnati. In the latest women’s doubles rankings, they are placed third and fourth respectively.

Besides the women’s doubles title, the US Open wheelchair women’s doubles champions have also been decided. The Chinese pair Li Xiaohui and Wang Ziying staged a remarkable comeback from 1-5 down in the second set to win 6-4, 7-6 against the multinational team of Zhu Zhenzhen and De Groot, claiming this valuable trophy.

It is worth noting that this marks the fourth time this season the duo has reached a Grand Slam wheelchair doubles final, achieving an outstanding record of three titles and one runner-up.

Notably, both doubles champions have also advanced smoothly to the singles quarterfinals. Li Xiaohui, seeded third in the wheelchair women’s singles, defeated compatriot Zhu Zhenzhen in the quarters, reaching the Grand Slam singles semifinals for the third time in her career.

Wang Ziying dominated Bernal 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, marking her third Grand Slam singles semifinal appearance this season. The upcoming semifinal matchups are as follows:
