Forward Nguyễn Quốc Việt stated that the U22 Vietnam team is actively preparing and confidently targeting a full 3 points against U22 Malaysia on December 11.
In an interview before the afternoon training on December 4 in Bangkok, Quốc Việt shared about the opening match and the readiness of himself and the entire team for the next challenge.
The striker, who has participated in two consecutive SEA Games, said the team is keeping a positive spirit after the 2-1 win over U22 Laos, although there is some regret for not scoring more goals.
At the 2025 SEA Games, U22 Vietnam plays at 4:00 PM in Bangkok where the weather is quite cool, unlike the hot conditions in Vietnam. All players on the field strive to give their best, and so do I.
A forward’s duty is to score goals, and personally, I regret not achieving this against U22 Laos. The team’s midfield and forward lines are stable; only the finishing needs improvement.
I haven’t watched much of U22 Malaysia’s matches, but from previous encounters, I’m confident I will perform well against this opponent. U22 Vietnam’s objective is definitely 3 points.”
Back to the training session on December 4, Coach Kim Sang-sik designed a moderate workload. The players who started against U22 Laos mainly focused on recovery and muscle relaxation, while the others practiced attacking combinations and finishing.
Midfielder Nguyễn Xuân Bắc, who was injured in the opening match, stayed at the hotel for gym and treatment. According to the team doctor, he may return to training within 2–3 days.
U22 Vietnam has 7 days remaining before the match against U22 Malaysia (December 11). During this time, Coach Kim Sang-sik and the coaching staff will continue to refine their tactics, particularly their ability to manage critical situations.
