A rare Real Madrid star emerges to defend Yamal

Aurelien Tchouameni spoke out in defense of Lamine Yamal following his controversial remarks at the Kings League, stating he enjoys the “spice” and that the challenge adds intensity to the El Clásico matches.

Aurelien Tchouameni emphasized three times to the media that he “likes” the drama and the strongly flavored “spicy” comments before the El Clásico matches. This statement was made when the French midfielder was asked about Lamine Yamal’s recent comments during the Kings League.

Yamal’s words irritated many Real Madrid players. They even openly criticized the young Barcelona player on the field during the match, as well as afterward on social media. However, Tchouameni took a completely opposite stance by defending the number 10 of the Catalan club.

“I like that. At the end of the match, we saw a few minor clashes between players, but that’s what motivates us more when facing Barca. When I was younger, I often witnessed moments like that. Stay calm, in the end, we won and got 3 points, but the whole team must keep this spirit going,” Tchouameni shared.

“Personally, I really enjoy that. It’s just words, with no ill intent. More importantly, that determination helped boost our excitement,” he added as reporters continued to press him.

When asked a third time, Tchouameni maintained his position: “As I said, I like it. If Lamine wants to speak, let him speak. Ultimately, everything is decided on the pitch. Today we won, but we still need to keep improving. The whole team is very satisfied with this victory and will look forward.”

The French midfielder’s remarks are seen as a balancing point amid the fierce reactions from Real Madrid teammates. Carvajal, Courtois, and Vinícius reprimanded Yamal immediately after the final whistle, while Jude Bellingham also posted a “cryptic” message on social media.

Vinicius mocked: “Just passing back? Why don’t you dare to dribble more?”, making the young Barca talent embarrassed right in the middle of the Bernabeu pitch. Meanwhile, Bellingham posted a series of celebration photos on Instagram with a pointed caption: “Talk is cheap. HALA MADRID SIEMPRE!!!” (It’s easy to talk. Hala Madrid forever!), as a blunt response directed at Yamal.
