U23 Vietnam goalkeeper Trung Kiên expressed his joy after helping HAGL secure their first win in the 2025 V-League, marking a significant milestone in his young career.
At Pleiku Stadium, HAGL achieved their first victory in the 2025 V.League by defeating Viettel 2-1. Although the opponent was considered stronger, the Mountain Town team showed great fighting spirit and cohesive play, with young goalkeeper Nguyễn Trung Kiên standing out as one of the match’s top performers.
Right after the final whistle, Trung Kiên couldn’t hide his emotions as he shared about the pressure and happiness of winning. He said: “Honestly, I’m very happy. Before the match, the pressure on me and the whole team was huge. But today, not only did we get the result, we also demonstrated clear progress. This victory is fully deserved given our efforts.”
During this match, Trung Kiên directly witnessed a controversial moment when Lucao from Viettel scored at the 77th minute, but VAR ruled it offside and disallowed the goal.
Recalling that moment, the U23 Vietnam goalkeeper revealed: “Personally, I think I didn’t perform to my best ability in that situation, and I’m not satisfied with myself. But perhaps luck was on our side today. VAR helped HAGL preserve this valuable win.”
Though modest about his own performance, it’s undeniable that Trung Kiên played a composed match, making timely interventions and showing excellent reflexes in the second half when Viettel launched intense attacks. This impressive display not only helped HAGL maintain their lead but also serves as a very positive sign for Trung Kiên personally as he prepares for SEA Games 33 with the U23 national team.
The 2-1 victory was not only important for the points but also provided a major morale boost for HAGL after a series of unsatisfactory results. For Trung Kiên, this match was a milestone affirming his composure, growth, and an important stepping stone to build confidence on his journey to winning titles with the young national team.
