With Japan drawing 1-1 against Paraguay! U17 Women's World Cup standings: Round of 16 confirmed, China to face Brazil

On October 26th Beijing time, the group stage of the U17 Women's World Cup concluded. In the last six matches, Colombia narrowly beat South Korea 1-0, Ivory Coast suffered a 0-3 defeat to Spain, Canada edged France 2-1, Samoa was overwhelmed 0-4 by Nigeria, New Zealand lost heavily 0-4 to Zambia, and Paraguay drew 1-1 with Japan after conceding a late equalizer. Thus, the final standings were decided, and all 16 teams advancing to the knockout stage were confirmed!

In the third round of Group E, Colombia’s women’s team faced South Korea. They scored a decisive goal in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory, leaving South Korea winless after three matches and eliminated. Spain continued their dominant offensive performance against Ivory Coast, scoring three goals in a 3-0 win, claiming their third straight victory and securing first place. Across three games, Spain scored 12 goals without conceding any, showing dominance in both attack and defense!

In the third round of Group F, Zambia, after two consecutive losses, came out strong and turned the match into a one-sided affair by defeating New Zealand 4-0, earning their first win. Meanwhile, undefeated Japan and Paraguay clashed for the top spot. Paraguay scored first against Japan’s defense, but Japan fought back fiercely, scoring a last-minute goal to equalize 1-1, sharing the top position!

In the third round of Group D, Canada and France battled for first place. Canada took the lead early, and in the second half, France unfortunately scored an own goal, worsening their situation. Although France fought back to score, they ultimately lost 1-2. Canada secured three consecutive wins and topped the group. Samoa, lacking strength, conceded four goals and lost 0-4 to Nigeria, giving Nigeria their first victory!

With that, all 16 teams advancing in this tournament have been confirmed. The three Asian teams moving forward are China, Japan, and North Korea, while South Korea has been eliminated. The Round of 16 matchups are set: China faces South American powerhouse Brazil; the USA meets European contender the Netherlands; European derby between Spain and France; Italy against African strong team Nigeria; North Korea battles Morocco; Canada takes on Zambia; Asian contender Japan meets Colombia; and the Americas derby features Mexico versus Paraguay. Looking forward to the quarterfinal lineup—let’s wait and see!
