Vitinha is becoming the focal point at Paris Saint-Germain, with legend Pauleta calling him the “Iniesta of PSG,” a smart, skillful, and nearly flawless playmaker in midfield.
Former PSG legendary striker Pedro Miguel Pauleta praised his fellow countryman Vitinha, describing him as “a phenomenon” and comparing him to renowned playmakers Pedri and Andres Iniesta.
After Vitinha scored the decisive goal in PSG’s 7-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, Pauleta expressed his strong admiration for the 25-year-old midfielder’s performance and development. “Vitinha never loses possession, always positions himself well, and executes every pass with precision. He is playing at a very high level, reminiscent of Iniesta – a player who could do everything with the ball,” Pauleta shared on RMC Sport.
The resounding win at BayArena helped PSG maintain their winning streak in the Champions League group stage. Under coach Luis Enrique, Vitinha has become an indispensable link, connecting defense and attack. In just three European matches, he scored once and provided one assist; in Ligue 1, Vitinha also has one goal and three assists in seven appearances, playing a key role in the capital club’s unbeaten run.
Besides praising Vitinha, Pauleta also commended two other Portuguese players at PSG, Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves. “Mendes possesses rare technique for a defender, while Neves plays beyond his 21 years with remarkable calmness and confidence,” he said.
In contrast, Pauleta expressed sympathy for striker Goncalo Ramos, who is still struggling to find his place in Enrique’s tactical system. “Ramos is a classic center forward, while PSG plays pressing and flexible movement. But he still knows how to seize every chance to contribute,” the Portuguese legend shared.
With his contract extended until 2029, Vitinha is gradually becoming PSG’s new icon. After the demolition of Leverkusen, Luis Enrique’s team will head to Brestois on October 25 before facing Bayern Munich again in early November—a match that promises to be a true test for the “phenomenon” Vitinha.
