Arne Slot receives unexpected advice about Salah amid Liverpool's turmoil

As Mohamed Salah's scoring form declines, former star Joleon Lescott steps up to defend the Egyptian forward and advises coach Arne Slot not to exclude him from Liverpool's lineup.

Liverpool is going through a difficult period offensively, especially with Mohamed Salah no longer maintaining his impressive goal-scoring rate. Under coach Arne Slot, the Egyptian striker has scored only 2 Premier League goals and 1 in the Champions League, causing doubts about his impact. However, Joleon Lescott, now a sports commentator in England, believes dropping Salah from the starting eleven is not a long-term solution and that the real issue lies in Liverpool's tactical approach.

Speaking on Sky's In The Mixer program, Lescott emphasized: "I don't think Salah should be dropped. Resting him might be okay, but not leaving him out of the team. He hasn’t played worse; he just hasn't scored. If Salah starts missing clear chances, then I would question his form. For now, his performances remain consistent."

According to Lescott, Salah is still fulfilling his role, mainly operating in the attacking third and participating less in defense. He believes Liverpool should reconsider their ball distribution: "If Salah is playing as usual, I have to ask why Liverpool aren’t passing to him more often. He is a player who can decide the game in a single moment."

The English commentator also suggested that Arne Slot should tap into Salah’s goal-scoring instincts, similar to how Manchester City utilizes Erling Haaland: "When you feed Haaland in dangerous areas, he takes care of the rest. Salah is the same. Liverpool needs to find ways to get him more touches inside the box."

Besides Salah, Lescott also mentioned new signing Milos Kerkez, acquired for £40 million from Bournemouth, who is struggling to adapt at Anfield. He commented: "Kerkez had an excellent previous season, but Liverpool is a completely different environment. Playing for a big club means higher pressure and scrutiny. He needs to get used to that."

Amid doubts about his form, will Arne Slot continue to trust Mohamed Salah to restore Liverpool’s attacking strength?
