AFC extends congratulations to the Vietnam U17 women's team and expresses gratitude to VFF for the successful organization of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian Qualifiers
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has sent a letter congratulating the Vietnam U17 women's team for their outstanding achievement in qualifying for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup final tournament, while also thanking the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the local organizing committee for successfully hosting the Group D qualifiers in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the letter, the AFC stated: “Congratulations to the Vietnam National U17 Women's Team for finishing top of Group D in the qualifiers and officially securing a spot at the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup final tournament in China. The team’s determination and dedication were clearly demonstrated throughout the qualifying matches.
Additionally, the AFC sincerely thanks the Vietnam Football Federation and the local organizing committee for the successful hosting of the Group D qualifiers, held from October 13 to 17, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The commitment, continuous effort, and professional work ethic of VFF and the LOC in ensuring the smooth organization and operation of the tournament are highly commendable and appreciated.
The AFC also thanks the local organizing committee for their careful preparations and warm hospitality extended to AFC officials and participating teams throughout the competition.Once again, we sincerely thank you and wish the Vietnam U17 women's team continued success, looking forward to seeing you at the final tournament in 2026.”
Led by coach Okiyama Masahiko, the Vietnam U17 women's team won both of their Group D matches, defeating U17 Guam and U17 Hong Kong (China), thereby earning their place in the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup final tournament in China.
The AFC’s recognition and congratulations serve as great encouragement for the entire team, while also reflecting the professional organizational capabilities of VFF and the host locality, enhancing the image of Vietnamese football both regionally and continentally.
