The Vietnam futsal squad is ranked in the second seed category for the 2026 Asian futsal finals.
On the evening of October 22, the final matches of Group D in the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers concluded, confirming the 16 teams that secured their spots in the Asian futsal finals: Indonesia (host), Australia, Thailand, Japan, Iraq, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Afghanistan, Kuwait, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Malaysia.
Regarding the Vietnam team, under coach Diego Giustozzi, they achieved three consecutive wins in Group E, earning the top position and advancing. Based on the seeding classification, Vietnam’s futsal team will be in the second seed group alongside Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. This means Vietnam will avoid these three opponents in the group stage, especially Uzbekistan — a team that has finished third in the last three consecutive tournaments.
Meanwhile, the first seed group consists of Indonesia, Iran, Thailand, and Japan. The third seed group includes Kuwait, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, and Kyrgyzstan. The fourth seed group comprises Australia, Lebanon, South Korea, and Malaysia.
The group stage draw for the 2026 Asian futsal finals will take place on November 5. With this seed division, Vietnam could face its "neighbors" Indonesia or Thailand right in the group stage. However, there is also a possibility that Vietnam might end up in a "group of death" alongside Iran or Japan.
The 2026 Asian futsal finals will be held from January 27 to February 7, 2026, in Indonesia. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and the final match to determine the champion.
