Manchester United has enforced a permanent ban on a person who attacked a member of the well-known channel The United Stand during a game held at Old Trafford.
Manchester United has issued a lifetime stadium ban at Old Trafford for the individual who assaulted Frank Ilett during the team's 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the "Theatre of Dreams." According to Daily Mail, the troublemaker was identified after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Frank Ilett (famous for his promise to “only cut his hair if Man Utd wins 5 consecutive matches”) has become an internet sensation since October 2024. His Instagram account The United Strand now has over 495,000 followers, where he regularly updates his journey of “growing hair while waiting for victories.”
In an interview with the media, Ilett shared: “This journey has been crazy. I never imagined my hair or follower count would grow this much. I hope to cut my hair before the end of this year, and if possible, I want a Man United player to cut it for me right at Old Trafford.”
However, after the win against Chelsea in September, Ilett was assaulted in the stands when a man grabbed his hair. Fortunately, several nearby fans intervened in time to prevent the situation from escalating. Following an investigation, Man Utd confirmed the individual has been permanently banned from Old Trafford.
Speaking about the incident, Ilett told The Sun: “At first, I thought he was joking, but then he started pulling my hair and called me a ‘attention seeker.’ That day, I met hundreds of lovely fans, and 99% brought positive energy. I only want to spread laughter and optimism to the Man United fan community, not criticize the team. I believe this was an isolated incident.”
Ilett’s story has also caught the attention of Man Utd internally. Defender Diogo Dalot sent a message after the 2-1 win at Anfield against Liverpool: “Hopefully, we can help him get that haircut soon! But first, we have to take it game by game, trying to maintain consistency and high performance.”
With two consecutive wins over Brentford and Liverpool, Frank Ilett is now just 3 wins away from his “barber day.” However, the inconsistent form of Ruben Amorim’s squad leaves fans waiting to see if his dream winning streak will come true soon, as Man United prepares to face Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Tottenham in upcoming matches.
