Coach Polking: 'CAHN will fight with full effort in every competition'

Alexandre Polking, head coach of CAHN club, confirmed that the team will fight with maximum spirit in every tournament they participate in. Winning against Macarthur FC in the third round of the AFC Champions League Two is a clearly set goal.

“Macarthur FC is a strong team with good fitness, effective wing attacks, and very fast play. Right after the draw results, I consulted with Stephan Mauk – a player who previously played for them. CAHN has thoroughly prepared tactics for this match. The home ground advantage will help us implement our style better. CAHN’s aim is to secure all 3 points. This group is very unpredictable, and to progress in the AFC Champions League Two, we must win this crucial match, which is also a gift for our supporters,” Coach Polking said at the pre-match press conference.

He added: “We focus on all aspects of the game. The tactical formation and personnel have not changed much. If we drop points in one match, other competitions will become more challenging. Therefore, CAHN does not neglect any tournament. Participating in multiple competitions requires thorough preparation from the start of the season, especially squad depth. In international matches, we can use more foreign players, allowing us to rotate properly, thereby maintaining squad balance. I believe CAHN’s current squad is capable of competing well in the four tournaments we are involved in.”

Coach Polking also highlighted the difference with Nam Dinh: “We don’t have as many foreign players as Nam Dinh. But CAHN approaches every competition with consistency in squad and playing style, as every match is important. We strive not to lose points in any game – even one defeat can affect the team’s confidence.”

Meanwhile, Macarthur FC’s coach Mile Sterjovski praised the V-League representative and expressed particular caution about Stephan Mauk: “We have thoroughly studied CAHN. In the past two matches, they have shown modern football with tight connections between defense and midfield, and a style of building play from their own half. CAHN has many quality foreign players capable of causing surprises at any time. One player I pay special attention to is Stephan Mauk – who has played in Australia and knows the local football environment well.”

The Australian coach concluded: “This will be an exciting match. We will try to play like CAHN – developing play from our own half. Macarthur’s goal is to achieve the best possible result.”

In the second round, both CAHN and Macarthur FC won 3-0 at home, with the Australian team beating Beijing Guoan by a large margin.

After two rounds, CAHN leads Group E with 4 points (a 2-2 draw against Beijing Guoan, and a 3-0 win over Tai Po). Macarthur is third with 3 points (a 1-2 loss to Tai Po and a 3-0 win over Beijing Guoan).

The match between CAHN and Macarthur FC will take place at 19:15 tomorrow evening (October 23) at Hang Day Stadium, which will be decisive for both teams’ chances to advance in Group E of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 season.
