The Opta supercomputer has offered analysis and predictions regarding the UEFA Champions League encounter between Frankfurt and Liverpool.
Liverpool is currently going through one of their toughest periods under coach Arne Slot, suffering four consecutive defeats across all competitions. Ahead, The Kop face a challenging away game against Frankfurt in the third group stage match of the Champions League.
Nonetheless, the supercomputer Opta has issued forecasts favoring the team from the United Kingdom. Specifically, after 10,000 simulations, Liverpool's chances of winning stand at 56.3% according to Opta. The other two scenarios are nearly balanced: the probability of a draw is 22.0%, slightly higher than the home win chance for Eintracht at 21.8%.
Additionally, the team from Anfield benefits from past head-to-head records.
According to Opta's statistics, the two teams have rarely met before, with their only encounters taking place in the first round of the 1972/73 UEFA Cup (the predecessor of the UEFA Europa League), where Liverpool won 2-0 on aggregate.
Liverpool also boasts an outstanding record against German clubs over the last two decades. The English side has lost only once in their last 15 matches against Bundesliga teams in the Champions League, winning 10 times. Notably, they have won all their last four away games against German sides, including a 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig last season.
On the other hand, Eintracht Frankfurt's home record against English clubs is somewhat inconsistent. They lost to Tottenham in the 2024/25 season after drawing with them twice in the previous two seasons. Since 2018/19, Frankfurt has beaten West Ham, drawn with Chelsea, and lost to Arsenal at home.
Based on these statistics, Liverpool is undoubtedly favored to secure all three points on German soil. This match also presents an opportunity for the Merseyside club to end their four-game losing streak and regain form to rejoin the title race across competitions.
Meanwhile, although considered the underdog for the upcoming match, Frankfurt promises to pose significant challenges to the reigning Premier League champions, backed by the support of thousands of home fans at Deutsche Bank Park.
The Frankfurt vs Liverpool match is scheduled for 2:00 AM on October 23rd.
