Despite giving their all and receiving passionate support from the home crowd, the Thailand team failed to retain the 2025 King's Cup trophy. The "War Elephants" were defeated by Iraq 0-1.

The only goal of the match was scored by Mohanad Ali. Notably, he was also the player who committed a rough foul on Chanathip Songkrasin near the end of the game, causing chaos at Kanchanaburi Stadium.

Earlier, Iraq had been reduced to 10 men when Frans Putros received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 76th minute, right after Mohanad Ali scored the match’s sole goal. Later, Mohanad Ali was also shown a red card for deliberately taking down Chanathip. In stoppage time, Iraq was down to 9 players but still managed to keep a clean sheet.
