The second friendly match, which also marked the end of Vietnam’s September FIFA Days training period, concluded with a flurry of goals as Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh’s team won 4-3 over Hanoi Police Club.
While Hanoi Police Club took the field with an all-domestic squad, Vietnam made just one minor defensive adjustment: Xuân Mạnh started in place of Trương Tiến Anh on the right side.
Nguyễn Filip and Hanoi Police Club chased the scoreline during the training match against Vietnam.
The starting lineup included goalkeeper Quan Văn Chuẩn, defenders Duy Mạnh, Thành Chung, Phan Tài, and Xuân Mạnh. In midfield, Đức Chiến, Hoàng Đức, Quang Vinh, and Ngọc Quang combined to support forwards Tiến Linh and Tuấn Hải.
In the 5th minute, Tiến Linh charged down the center, bypassing Hanoi Police Club’s defense and goalkeeper Nguyễn Filip to score the opening goal. Compared to the defeat against Thép Xanh Nam Định three days earlier, Vietnam displayed a much more positive game.
At the 32nd minute, Tuấn Hải faced goalkeeper Nguyễn Filip but failed to score. However, shortly afterward, the Hanoi Club striker found the net, increasing the lead to 2-0. Before the first half ended, a mistake by goalkeeper Quan Văn Chuẩn allowed Đức Nam to narrow the gap to 1-2.
In the second half, acting head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh made almost a complete change to the lineup, keeping only Châu Ngọc Quang. Triệu Việt Hưng scored the third goal, initiating a comeback. Văn Toản reduced the score to 2-3 for Hanoi Police Club before Văn Vĩ extended the lead to 4-2. The final goal was scored by Lê Văn Đô, setting the score at 4-3 for Coach Mano Polking’s side.
During the rest of the match, both teams created more chances but no further goals were scored. In the end, Vietnam secured a narrow 4-3 win.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will regroup in October in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
