Not called up for the national team, Quang Hải and Filip Nguyễn appeared on the field wearing CAHN colors to compete against Vietnam’s national squad.
On the afternoon of September 7 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnam National Team played their second friendly match of September against the CAHN club. Three days earlier, the "Golden Dragons" faced Nam Định club, which featured 11 foreign players. Therefore, it was no surprise that the Vietnam National Team lost 0-4.
To face the Vietnam National Team, CAHN surprisingly started with a lineup composed entirely of domestic players. Notably, CAHN included Quang Hải and Filip Nguyễn—key members of the Vietnam National Team—who started the match to compete against their national teammates.
Filip Nguyễn was not included in the September call-up, while Quang Hải was initially summoned. However, Quang Hải could not join the Vietnam National Team due to injury (along with Doãn Ngọc Tân and Hai Long), so Acting Head Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh decided to add Phan Du Học (HAGL) to the squad.
It seems Quang Hải’s injury is not too serious. It is understandable that Quang Hải and Filip Nguyễn did not join the national team camp but still played for CAHN. During this September camp, the Vietnam National Team did not have official international friendlies and only played internal scrimmages.
Because of this, the Vietnam National Team’s camp featured many new faces such as Hoàng Phúc, Gia Kiệt, Gia Hưng, Du Học, etc. Coach Kim Sang Sik prioritized leading the U23 Vietnam team for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, leaving Acting Head Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh in charge of the senior team.
Meanwhile, CAHN and Nam Định clubs have the special task in September of preparing for two international competitions: the AFC Champions League Two and the ASEAN Club Championship. Therefore, it is reasonable that key players like Quang Hải and Filip Nguyễn stayed with their clubs during this less critical Vietnam National Team camp.
