This tournament they aimed for a breakthrough, advancing comfortably to the semifinals where they faced top-ranked Italy. The match was a thrilling back-and-forth battle with intense sets. In the decisive set, Italy struck decisively while Brazil faltered, losing 2-3 despite leading 2-1 earlier. Brazil missed their chance to reach the final again, a heartbreaking defeat. Brazil came so close to victory but fell short, with Bergmann costing them the final spot!
After the match started, Brazil showed no signs of semifinal disappointment, quickly getting into rhythm and dominating Japan on both offense and defense. They opened a big lead, winning the first two sets comfortably 25-12 and 25-17 to reach match point. It seemed Japan might collapse, but they suddenly erupted in the third set, fighting back 25-19. The fourth set saw fierce clashes, with Japan coming from behind to take the lead. Both teams battled intensely in crucial points, with Japan edging out 29-27 to tie the match 2-2. The final set was equally intense; Japan reached match point first, but Brazil fought back to 14-14, then 15-15, and 16-16. Brazil steadied and scored two straight points to win 18-16, clinching the bronze with a 3-2 victory over Japan!
