Manchester United shares salary burden to send Onana on loan; agreement reached with Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

Following the acquisition of Lammers, Onana has dropped to being the third goalkeeper for Manchester United. Amrabat can no longer tolerate Onana's recurring careless errors, resulting in Onana losing his spot entirely. Since next year is a World Cup year, Onana requires regular appearances to keep his condition, making a loan the sole viable option at present.

According to the latest report from Italian transfer expert Romano, Manchester United has reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor for Onana’s loan transfer. Manchester United will cover part of Onana’s wages, and Amrabat has given the green light to the deal, so there are no obstacles remaining.

Onana is currently 29 years old, valued at 25 million euros by Transfermarkt. He was one of the strongest goalkeepers in the Champions League during his Inter Milan days, but struggled to adapt after joining Manchester United, frequently gifting opponents with mistakes.Onana earns a weekly pre-tax wage of £120,000 at Manchester United, which amounts to approximately £6.24 million before tax annually.During the loan period, Manchester United and Trabzonspor will share responsibility for Onana’s salary.

A change of environment can revive a player; Onana might flourish at Trabzonspor. Manchester United also hopes he regains form. With three years left on his contract, if Onana performs well in Turkey, United can sell him in next summer’s transfer window to recoup some of their investment. United paid €50.2 million to sign Onana from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023.
