GEN2-0 defeats TES to advance to the quarterfinals! Chovy’s dominance overwhelms, JKL and Yunya can’t save the team.

During the S15 Worlds Swiss round BO3 between TES and GEN, after two battles, GEN beat TES 2-0 and qualified for the quarterfinals! TES still has another BO3 to compete for advancement.

In the first game, GEN fielded Excavator top, Vi jungle, Taliyah mid, and Lucian with Braum bot; TES chose Sion top, Xin Zhao jungle, Ahri mid, and Tristana with Neeko bot. At 3 minutes, Kanavi’s Xin Zhao ganked bot, diving under tower to kill Duro’s Braum, and JKL’s Tristana secured first blood. At 4 minutes, GEN’s bot lane duo killed Hang’s Neeko in lane. At 11 minutes, Canyon’s Vi ganked bot, but TES’s bot lane turned it around under their turret for a 1-for-2 trade. GEN then took down the first mid outer turret and pushed mid further; Creme’s Ahri made a mistake and was instantly killed, allowing GEN to score a 0-for-4 teamfight and gain a 3K gold lead early on.

At 21 minutes in mid game, GEN initiated on Elder Dragon, TES rushed to contest, but JKL’s Tristana was instantly eliminated. Ruler’s Lucian secured a triple kill, GEN took Elder Dragon and wiped TES’s team. At 23 minutes, GEN took the dragon buff without damage. TES tried to initiate bot lane at 23 minutes, but lacked damage; GEN scattered TES’s formation and again scored a 0-for-5 teamfight, easily closing out the first game. The MVP of the first match was awarded to Kiin on Excavator.

In game two, TES picked Rumble top, Pantheon jungle, Kassadin mid, and Yunya with Leona bot; GEN chose Ornn top, Jarvan jungle, Yone mid, and Kai’Sa with Rell bot. At 6 minutes, Canyon ganked mid, killing Creme’s Kassadin, and Chovy’s Yone secured first blood. At 15 minutes, both teams contested the dragon; Kiin’s Ornn initiated, followed by Canyon’s Jarvan combo, GEN killed TES’s jungle and support first, then chased for a teamwipe. Early on, GEN took the first bot turret and secured two dragons, gaining a 3K gold advantage.

At 20 minutes mid game, TES attempted to catch Chovy’s Yone again, but Chovy delayed until his teammates arrived. Although Chovy’s Yone was killed, GEN traded 1-for-4 and secured Elder Dragon. At 21 minutes, GEN comfortably took the dragon buff. Later in a jungle skirmish, Kanavi’s Pantheon was quickly killed, TES also took down Canyon’s Jarvan, and JKL’s Yunya chased and cleaned up, resulting in a 3-for-4 trade. At 26 minutes, Hang’s Leona flashed to engage on Duro’s Rakan, but Duro counter-engaged and Hang was instantly killed. GEN then targeted JKL’s Yunya, killing him quickly, wiping TES again, and taking the first Baron Nashor.

At 28 minutes, TES first killed Kiin’s Ornn near the river, then Creme’s Kassadin pushed back Ruler’s Kai’Sa, but Ruler skillfully dodged and GEN counterattacked to wipe TES’s team, securing the match victory.
