Preface: The S15 season has officially started, and the vast majority of players have been paying attention to the recent clashes. The LPL playoffs are fiercely competitive. In a recent match, the weaker WBG squad defeated AL 3-2, completing an upset. In the decisive final game, Xiaohu’s card play was exceptional. Although there were moments resembling elderly card switching, a crucial yellow card turned the tide. After the match, Xiaoming conducted a friendly interview with him, and the phrase "No joke in the military" exploded in the comments. As expected from the well-known General Hu, every interview is full of entertainment value.
Most players are highly interested in the match between AL and WBG. Compared to other teams, these two have very close overall records, finishing fourth and fifth in the regular season. In the playoffs, WBG and AL were grouped automatically. The match delivered an exciting BO5 series. After five games, it was clear that WBG had a better team atmosphere. Although Xiaotian made some mistakes in the later games, his two godlike performances cannot be overlooked.
In the first game’s early phase, both teams avoided heavy confrontation. At 15 minutes, Shanks’ Orianna solo killed Xiaohu’s Taliyah in the bottom lane and then secured a zero-for-three team fight mid, quickly expanding the gold lead. AL easily took the first game. In the second game, WBG’s jungler Xiaotian performed outstandingly. At 14 minutes, a dragon team fight resulted in a zero-for-three exchange favoring WBG, stabilizing their position. Xiaotian finished with a 10-0 godlike score and earned the second game’s MVP. The third game also saw Xiaotian’s excellent jungle play suppress AL early on. He finished 9-0 and grabbed another MVP.
In the fourth game, a mid-game team fight gave AL’s mid laner Kassadin kills, items, and a gold lead. Kassadin’s damage skyrocketed, pushing the BO5 to the limit. The final game was the most thrilling. Although Xiaotian made many clutch saves, the last play called by Xiaohu and others was crucial. The entire team paused to dodge Rek'Sai’s tunnel, and a key yellow card enabled a zero-for-five team wipe. With a 2-3-11 score, the card player took MVP, and WBG completed the upset, advancing to the winners’ bracket next round.
After the match, mid laner Xiaohu accepted an interview from his old teammate Xiaoming, opening with a sharp remark that fans were eager to hear: "No joke in the military." Undeniably, General Hu knows how to create show moments and even assigned a hand gesture dance challenge to the next interviewee. AL’s current form is very unstable — are they becoming the ticket sellers of the LPL? Judging by the overall state of the competition, WBG looks like the most likely team to secure the fourth World Championship spot.
Who would have thought the AL vs. WBG match would be so intense? From runner-up in the first stage to champion in the second, AL is now gradually declining. Perhaps that championship spoiled AL too much. Even though they had issues at the World Championship stage, people didn’t discuss it much because it was impressive for a rookie team to reach that level. However, the third stage’s regional competition looks very different. If they fail to qualify for Worlds, they should prepare for harsh criticism from fans.
