IG delivered a hilarious battle, TheShy possessed by the war god, EDG lost their minds, and Rookie enjoyed an effortless victory.

Greetings to all LPL viewers and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Report.

The LPL playoffs began officially yesterday, featuring two BO5 matches in a single day. In the second match, IG swept EDG, the second place in the Phoenix group, 3-0, advancing comfortably to the winners' bracket.

Among the three games, the second one was the most memorable, with IG delivering another hilarious match.

LPL’s comedic showdown, The Shy possessed by the war god

The match between IG and EDG can be summed up in four words—effortlessly smooth. IG played with ease throughout all three games, getting even more relaxed with each round. In the first game, EDG’s specially designed tactics initially gained a good advantage, but GALA’s signature Kai’Sa quickly stepped up, dazzling the crowd with a 1v3 clutch play in the late game.

Afterwards, GALA dominated the battlefield to secure the win. Then came the second game, which the audience dubbed a top-tier anti-depression match, with casters and viewers alike laughing nonstop.

In this game, The Shy picked Aatrox for the top lane and easily gained the upper hand against Sion. Zdz tried to coordinate with the jungler for a kill, but his ultimate was mistimed, prompting the casters to exclaim simultaneously, “Huh?” The Shy didn’t even need to use his flash to create distance and then turned around to heavily punish Sion.

At 19 minutes, a dramatic moment occurred during the dragon fight where IG surrounded EDG from all sides. Surrounded and desperate, EDG was caught off guard by IG’s Alistar initiating, combined with Annie and The Shy’s entry, instantly cutting down Varus. The Shy’s river Aatrox showed his might, as if possessed by a war god, helping IG establish a strong lead.

Zdz’s TP face to face, EDG thrown into chaos

Following that, another classic teamfight involving Urgot took place. EDG, at a disadvantage, tried their best with Urgot, but IG once again executed a multi-directional surround. EDG was trapped in the middle, unsure how to respond, while The Shy single-handedly blocked their retreat on the top side.

In this situation, EDG attempted to break out in one direction, but Varus’s ultimate missed, leading to a failed escape and IG picking them off one by one. The Shy’s Aatrox was simply unstoppable.

Zdz’s Sion, in a losing position, tried a hard split-push strategy, forcing down towers despite The Shy’s defense. However, The Shy trapped his positioning, preventing him from escaping with his ultimate. After the ultimate was blocked, Zdz performed an amazing play by reading the TP in the brush, but The Shy instantly interrupted it.

Caster Guan Zeyuan shouted: “What are you doing? Don’t fool yourself, seriously, what does this mean?”

At this point, The Shy’s smirk was barely contained. Soon after, teammates arrived to help easily kill Sion. The funniest part was that Sion still managed to get quite a few kills this game, contributing damage even after dying multiple times in teamfights, making it a highly entertaining moment.

Rookie enjoyed an effortless win, Daeny’s antics off-stage

With a huge lead, IG easily pushed to the base. The Shy executed a flanking play to effortlessly take down Varus. While pushing the base, The Shy started goofing around, using his ultimate, Q, E, and flash to entertain the audience and casters, even though Varus still had a Night Harvester shield.

The Shy then gave away his own kill, and Guan Zeyuan later explained that The Shy has this habit of conceding a kill after a won game.

In short, The Shy once again delivered an exciting and hilarious storyline in this BO5 series.

IG easily took down EDG. Personally, I think Rookie was the one who enjoyed a carefree victory this round, barely needing to perform in all three games. These types of matches are often what IG fans most want to see. Usually, if Rookie plays well, the game tends to be a hard-fought battle. Meanwhile, Daeny’s funny expressions off-stage were also captured by viewers, proving the whole team is full of talented and humorous players who can still win.

In my opinion, this IG squad in the playoffs has basically reached peak form in all aspects. If they improve discipline and play more rigorously in upcoming matches, their players’ condition is solid, and they have a real chance to defeat BLG again. At least from the match content, IG still holds some advantage over BLG.
