Hello to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Hub.
The opening LPL playoff clash saw a dramatic script with BLG dropping the first two games to JDG but fighting back to win three straight and secure the series win, moving on to the next stage.
In the deciding game, BLG’s Caitlyn set the pace with a fast push strategy.
In the final match, testing both teams’ composition synergy, JDG on the blue side locked in a lineup focused on strong single-target crowd control, featuring Twisted Fate paired with Blitzcrank support, a warrior jungler Kha’Zix for aggressive engages, and Yorick top to strengthen lane presence and split pushing, aiming to create pressure through dual split-push and pick-off plays in mid to late game.
BLG responded with a fast-push composition centered around Caitlyn, supported by a Spiderling support, with Malzahar mid to counter Twisted Fate and Blitzcrank, and Mordekaiser top to limit JDG’s key players. This lineup demanded aggressive early tempo and quick tower pressure.
Early in the game, in the bottom lane, JDG’s Blitzcrank landed an initial hook, but the lane remained disadvantageous as BLG controlled the wave. Xun’s risky invade into the jungle while low health resulted in a misplay, and after initiating on a low-health Poppy, they were countered by Poppy’s knockback and Malzahar’s abilities, giving BLG the first blood.
BLG kicked off their fast push strategy by taking down the turret plating in the bottom lane and then securing the dragon. When JDG’s Blitzcrank attempted to initiate, he was caught out and killed immediately. Despite falling behind in tempo, Scout on Twisted Fate used a well-timed ultimate combined with Kha’Zix to successfully eliminate the Malzahar who had no ultimate available.
Elk’s triple kill secures the win, Beichuan steals the dragon soul.
With the advantage, BLG’s bottom lane kept pushing; when JDG came to defend, BLG dived and caught Zhuo out again, securing another kill and then taking the first turret in the bottom lane.
At 15 minutes, both teams contested the Rift Herald. Scout’s Twisted Fate landed a gold card on Malzahar, enabling a coordinated kill with teammates. Bin flashed in with his ultimate, and BLG counterattacked to kill Blitzcrank. Caitlyn then picked up another kill, but was later taken down by Twisted Fate’s ultimate and teammates, resulting in a 2-for-2 exchange.
At 18 minutes, Zhuo’s Blitzcrank flashed in for a hook and ultimate combo, enabling JDG to kill Malzahar. Knight’s W was not activated in time, so JDG secured the kill. BLG stopped dragon attempts and both sides clashed in a teamfight where Bin’s ultimate helped BLG kill one enemy, but they were then punished by JDG. JDG chose to reset and heal up in this late-game state.
The teams resumed contesting the dragon. BLG lost one member but managed to secure the dragon soul. Later, BLG grouped to fight Elder Dragon; however, EZ made a mistake by stepping into a trap while trying to engage with E, and Elk’s flash triple shot instantly took him down, allowing BLG to claim the Elder Dragon safely.
Editor’s note
At 25 minutes, during the dragon soul teamfight, JDG took the initiative with Blitzcrank once again successfully hooking Malzahar and securing a kill.
Then Zhuo hooked Mordekaiser but was killed by Bin’s low-health ultimate, which restored Bin’s health to half. Meanwhile, Beichuan successfully stole the dragon, helping BLG claim the Ocean Dragon soul.
BLG completes the reverse sweep from 1-2 down to 3-2, advancing to the next round.
After securing the dragon soul, BLG immediately grouped to take Baron Nashor. JDG’s Twisted Fate tried to defend alone but was too slow to respond. BLG forced them back, secured Baron, then killed the top and jungle players, and chased down Twisted Fate, effectively ending the contest.
During the subsequent push, Caitlyn’s rapid attack forced EZ to stand still, and BLG closed out the game with that decisive play.
Thus, BLG’s first playoff match featured a remarkable reverse sweep from 1-2 down, showing a strong comeback and unleashing surprise strategies in the last three games to clinch the series victory.
Personally, I found this best-of-five series quite exciting. Both teams brought out unique tactical compositions, with the draft often deciding the outcome. Morgana in earlier games and Malzahar in this one were very impactful. JDG put great pressure on BLG, showing signs of recovery from their poor regular season form, but errors still cost them.
On the other hand, BLG clearly struggled to adapt early on and didn’t start in playoff mode, giving JDG many opportunities. Fortunately, they adjusted their form later and advanced smoothly. Now, fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming BLG vs. IG showdown. JDG still has chances through the losers’ bracket to fight for further progression.
