Regular season slam dunk action is here! Yang Hansen records 2 points, 1 rebound, and 2 blocks; Curry scores 35+6 as the Trail Blazers dominate the Warriors

On October 25th Beijing time, the NBA regular season saw the Trail Blazers face the Warriors at home. This marked the debut of interim coach Splitter for the Trail Blazers. They maintained a lead from the second quarter onward and won 139-119, securing their first win this season. For the Warriors, Curry scored 35 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists; Butler added 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists; Kuminga posted 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists; Green contributed 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. On the Trail Blazers’ side, Avdija had 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists; Kamara scored 19 points with 7 rebounds and 3 steals; Klingen added 14 points and 8 rebounds; Grant put up 22 points; Holiday finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 11 assists. Yang Hansen played 7 minutes, recording 2 points, 1 rebound, and 2 blocks.

In the first quarter, the Warriors started with a 12-4 run to take the lead. Avdija hit a three-pointer over Butler, and Kamara made free throws to close the gap. Kuminga responded with free throws, and Splitter made a bold move by bringing in Yang Hansen. After the Trail Blazers tied the score, Curry went on a spree with two consecutive three-pointers. Murray assisted Macaulay for a dunk, Sharp drew a foul under the basket, and the Trail Blazers fought hard to tie the game at 28-28.

In the second quarter, Poole and Green combined for a 5-0 run, but Grant quickly answered with a three-pointer. Avdija scored again in the paint, and Sable’s three-pointer gave the Trail Blazers the lead. Butler’s putback helped the Warriors stop the bleeding, prompting a timeout. After the break, the Warriors’ offense flowed smoothly, but the Trail Blazers kept raining threes to maintain their advantage. Avdija had already scored 17 points before halftime ended. With Holiday also hitting a three-pointer, the Trail Blazers led by double digits for the first time. At the quarter’s end, Avdija nailed another three, and the Trail Blazers led 69-56 at halftime.

The second half followed a familiar pattern: Green scored from the free-throw line and mid-range, Curry hit another three-pointer, and the Warriors went on a 5-0 run. The Warriors struggled to contain the Trail Blazers’ outside shooting on defense. With Kamara and Sharp hitting threes, the Warriors called a timeout. After the break, Curry hit a tough three-pointer over Grant’s defense, rescuing the Warriors from trouble. The Trail Blazers kept pushing forward with a 10-2 run to extend their lead. Moody responded with a three on the fast break. Bojanowski narrowed the gap to 10 points with free throws and a jumper. Klingen scored inside to end the third quarter, with the Trail Blazers leading 103-91.

As expected, the coaching change brought a sharp improvement; the Trail Blazers surged in the final quarter, quickly extending their lead close to 20 points. With 8 and a half minutes left, the Warriors switched to an all-bench lineup, likely due to the fatigue of their veterans playing back-to-back games. Despite the big lead, the Trail Blazers did not put Yang Hansen in the game until 3 minutes and 43 seconds remained. Once on the court, he received a perfect pass and scored his first points of the game with a one-handed dunk. He then blocked a shot under the basket, sparking cheers from the crowd. The Trail Blazers ultimately cruised to a 139-119 victory over the Warriors.

Starting lineups for both teams:

Warriors: Kuminga, Green, Poole, Butler, Curry

Trail Blazers: Avdija, Kamara, Klingen, Sharp, Holiday
