Explosive! A 4-for-1 trade proposal! Lakers might assemble three top draft picks

Recently, more and more news has connected Wiggins to the Lakers.

Moreover, some US media have been quick to suggest a 4-for-1 trade deal, which involves the Lakers packaging Kleber, Knecht, Vincent, and the 2027 first-round pick (top-10 protected) to acquire Wiggins from the Heat.

With Wiggins (2014 first overall), Doncic (2018 third overall), and LeBron (2003 first overall) forming the core wings, supported by Reaves, Hachimura, Ayton (2018 first overall), and Smart (Defensive Player of the Year 2021-22), the team loudly proclaims those five words.

However, reporter Siegel poured cold water on this, stating that there has been no progress regarding the “Lakers trading for Wiggins” situation,as the Heat’s asking price is very high, and the Lakers are only willing to negotiate if no first-round pick is involved.

Heat insiders Goldberg and Siegel share similar views, claiming the Heat won’t part with Wiggins just for Knecht and salary matching, and also believe the Lakers won’t include a first-round pick as trade bait.

Simply put, the Lakers might acquire Wiggins, but chances appear slim at present; perhaps only by the February trade deadline next year will substantial talks occur. It’s well known that Wiggins has never been part of the Heat’s long-term plans, and his main value lies in whether he can be sold at a high price.

Wiggins was traded from the Warriors to the Heat mid-2024-25 season in a deal involving Butler. He started all 17 regular-season games for his new team, averaging 32.1 minutes, 19 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1 block per game, with shooting splits of 45.8%, 36%, and 73.1%. In the playoffs, he started all 4 games, averaging 30.5 minutes, 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, shooting 37.2%, 35%, and 70%.

Regarding Wiggins’ current contract, which expires in summer 2027, his salary for the next two seasons will be $28.22 million and $30.17 million respectively. At 30 years old, he still has the potential to secure a lucrative contract thanks to his all-around skills, provided he stays healthy and avoids injuries—like being careful with hot drinks.

Alas, Wiggins, having left the Warriors, may one day be forced to embark on a journeyman’s path.
