Officially joining the Mavericks! Hello, the block king! Reports say Anthony Davis will miss the NBA season opener.

Reporter Scotto revealedthat the Mavericks have signed Jamariion Sharp.

This guy was born on November 6, 2001, is 23 years old, was the 29th pick in the second round of the 2021 draft, stands 2.26 meters tall as a center, and last season averaged 5.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game for the Mavericks’ G League team, the Texas Legends, with an impressive shooting percentage of 60.1%.

Sharp likely signed an Exhibit 10 or two-way contract, and he will probably spend most of the new season in the G League since the Mavericks already have enough big men. With Davis, Gafford, and Leavell sharing the playing time, Sharp will only get a chance in the main roster if there is a major injury crisis like last season.

It’s fine if you don’t mention it, but once you do, trouble arises.

Reporter Stein disclosedthat Anthony Davis might miss the season opener on October 22 against the Spurs because he is still recovering from eye surgery.

In early July, Davis underwent surgery to repair a retinal detachment suffered during the season. He was expected to be healthy before training camp started, but unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet. However, it’s not a serious issue and mainly a precaution.

In February this year, Davis was traded from the Lakers to the Mavericks in a blockbuster deal involving Luka Doncic. Last season, he played 9 regular-season games for his new team, averaging 29.6 minutes, 20 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game, with shooting splits of 46.1%, 23.3%, and 68.8%. He scored a combined 67 points and 18 rebounds in two play-in games but unfortunately couldn’t help the team reach the playoffs.

In the new season, Davis will be supported by top talents like the number one pick Flagg, Thompson, Russell, Gafford, and PJ Washington. If Irving can recover timely from his ACL tear and return to peak form, the Mavericks have a real shot at the championship, and Davis could potentially win his second NBA title after his time with the Lakers.

However, it’s crucial to remember that achieving the top spot depends on staying healthy; a team plagued by injuries is doomed to fail.

New addition Sharp: Yes, please don’t give me a chance to move up!
