Impressive lineup! The Dallas Mavericks have officially announced their coaching staff for the new season, led by Jason Kidd and featuring multiple championship-winning coaches.

On September 9th Beijing time, the Dallas Mavericks have a star-studded player roster and have now officially confirmed the coaching staff under head coach Jason Kidd for the 2025-26 season, which is also very strong.

The newly added assistant coaches (all holding assistant coach positions) are as follows —

Frank Vogel: He has been the head coach of the Pacers, Magic, Lakers, and Suns, and will become Kidd’s top assistant. Vogel led the Lakers to an NBA championship in 2020 as head coach, and last season served as a coaching advisor for the Mavericks. When Vogel was head coach of the Lakers, Kidd was his lead assistant; now their roles are reversed.

Jay Triano: A veteran assistant coach who spent the past three seasons with the Kings and previously served as head coach for the Raptors and Suns. Reports say he will be Kidd’s second assistant coach.

Popeye Jones:A former NBA forward who was teammates with Kidd in Dallas for two years, this is his first time joining the Mavericks’ coaching staff. Since transitioning to coaching in 2007, Jones has a rich resume: from 2007-10 he was the Mavericks’ player development coach, then served as an assistant coach with the Nets (2010-13), Pacers (2013-20), 76ers (2020-21), and Nuggets (2021-25). The 55-year-old coach is reportedly the third assistant coach, mainly responsible for the team’s defensive training.

Phil Handy:He has been an assistant coach with the Cavaliers, Raptors, and Lakers, winning championships with all three teams during his career (once with each).

Mike Penberthy:A former professional player with extensive NBA coaching experience, Penberthy has worked with the Timberwolves, Pelicans, Lakers, and most recently the Nuggets. Known as a “shooting coach expert,” he has also received public praise from star Anthony Davis.

Drew Anstrop:In the 2023-24 season, he served as an assistant coach for the Suns under Vogel, and previously worked as a video coordinator for the Magic, Grizzlies, and Lakers (also handling player development duties during his time with the Lakers).

Jordan Sears:After two years as head coach of the Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Dallas Legends, he returns to the Mavericks’ main coaching staff. From 2021-23 he was the Mavericks’ lead video coordinator, and from 2019-21 he worked with the Bucks as a video intern and assistant video coordinator.

Additionally, the announcement confirmed that Eric Hughes, Josh Broghammer, and Keith Vinny will continue their roles as assistant coaches with the team.
